Drop Spindle Spinning

These strands of sheep fleece on a fence remind me of bobbins of yarn in a mill. You can collect these strands and spin them on a drop spindle. It's a craft that is universal and prehistoric, the start of manufacturing textile.

I made this drop spindle using a coaster and a piece of wooden dowel. Spindles come in a limitless variety, even a nice round potato and a pencil will do.
