It has been my intention for while to try and get colour from ivy leaves. They are so green and abundant at this time of year and it seemed a good way to start 2025.
This year I aim to forage for plant material as well as growing the usual flowers. I am prompted to do this because the rabbits wreaked havoc with the coreopsis so I really need to have other materials to hand.
The results are really good although I did have to cook the leaves for several hours before any colour was released.
The top ‘cake’ is leaves with no additive, bottom right with copper and bottom left with iron.
