Sheepskin Rug without the skin!

Writer: VeronicaVeronica

The fleece came off the sheep in one piece and looked very much like a ready made rug.

It was time to try out my newly learnt felting skills and make a sheepskin rug with no skin and a live sheep. It sounds like a win win situation but as usual it is no pain no gain!

A great deal of elbow grease is needed to felt the carded fleece backing.

As you can see Baxter really enjoys the final result.

I needed

  1. A whole or part fleece

  2. Carded fleece for felting

  3. A cane blind

  4. Netting (curtain net)

  5. Table

  6. Broom handle

  7. Ties

  8. Soap bars

  9. Washing up liquid (alkaline)

  10. Neutral detergent

  11. Lots of warm water
